LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Demi Lovato’s rehab admission shocked fans Monday; but the reason Demi Lovato cited for entering rehab is leaving fans Tuesday still searching for answers. Lovato now 18 has been the picture of happiness and success publicly in recent years.Unlike contemporaries often battling with personal issues, Lovato has appeared the constant in-control performer in love with her job and its success.
So when fans were told last night in a news statement that Demi was seeking rehab help for “physical issues” and “emotional issues”, the news was both vague and surprising. The official complete statement said Monday night that Lovato was ending her tour for the time being to “in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time. Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.”
For fans, it all makes no sense.
It was just weeks ago that a happy Lovato tweeted her 18th birthday celebration, an intimate gathering of friends away from the media spotlight. Lovato was clear about two things – she was emotionally happy and on top of the world.
She partied this week at Buddakan (New York City) with Madison de la Garza and the Jonas Brothers, family, and close friends saying “It’s my party, wish you call be here. I could not be any happier. I really couldn’t. Good morning tweethearts… Thank you for everything. Your are my life.” That was the last week of August. She added “I would love to just have fun with my friends. I don’t get to see my friends a lot, so a lot of my friends are coming out. I have everything I could possibly want… I’m just thankful.”
Today it remains a mystery how in less than 8 weeks from that statement Lovato went from complete happiness to now claiming she is suffering emotional issues.
And yet, “physical issues” is even a greater mystery for fans. Irrespective of her hit music and Camp Rock tv-movie series, her tv series Sonny with a Chance has been a Disney benchmark on success. Disney Channel president Gary Marsh said in a statement in 2009: “Sonny was a hit right out of the gate. [We] look forward to tapping further into its comedic potential, adding music, and more, in Season 2.” Sonny was TV’s No.1 -rated scripted series among the 6-11 (kids) demographic and 9-14 (tweens) demographic, as high as American Idol. Her tv movie Princess Protection Program by 2009 pulled in the third highest numbers of any Disney Channel film of all time. With overall 8.5 million viewers, it was 2009’s number one telecast that year for kids with 3.1 million viewers and for tweens with 3.2 million viewers.
