After crashing out in the season opener at Daytona, Patrick heads to Fontana Saturday for week 2 of the NASCAR Nationals.

Start time for Saturday’s action is 2:30 p.m. The race is 150 laps, 300 miles. Here is the lineup for Southern California fans heading to the race.

On Sunday, Patrick posted to Twitter “Vday dinner in the making while still watching the 500!”

The reaction on twitpit was to be expected: “Wish I was eating with you!! “

On Monday, Patrick twittered “…at home with a desk full of mail and lots of calls to make. Being on the road is easier sometimes!”

The next Nationwide series run after Fontana is Las Vegas, and then Bristol over the next three weeks. Patrick had told press before last weekend: “My goal purely is to finish. Just to finish the race and log 300 miles in practice.”

“It’s nice to go up the speed chart. They told me not to look at the speed chart [Wednesday] when I was 26th, because it doesn’t really matter. I’m not going to look at it [Thursday] when I’m fifth, because it doesn’t really matter.”

“This is a whole another ball of wax this weekend,” she said. “This car is not as easy to drive, there are a lot of really great drivers out there, really great teams out there, and everybody is running close. Everybody wants to make that next step up to Cup. So this is a very different situation for me.”

Danica Patrick’s NASCAR crash at the 2010 Daytona NATIONWIDE series Saturday was exactly what Patrick said she didn’t want to happen.

Patrick told press this week that placing wasn’t her goal. Rather she said her goal was just to finish and not crash.

Instead she got caught up in a 12-car accident. Cars ahead of her went into a pile up. Patrick tried to avoid and ended up smashing into the wall. Danica was running 21st at the time.

On Saturday, a multi car pileup was in clear view for Danica Patrick at the Nationals. Patrick couldn’t avoid it and crashed out of her NASCAR premiere Saturday at the Daytona National. She next races Fontana on Saturday.

Today’s Daytona 500 bottom 50 is dominated by Toyotas with the 49 position by Dave Blaney in the Toyota from Prism Motorsports followed by team member Michael McDowell, Derrike Cope in the Asset Protect Dodge in 51 slot, Kirk Shelmerdine in the 52 slotted Toyota, Mike Wallace in the 53 Dodge and Norm Benning in the 54 Chevy.

After Daytona, NASCAR heads to Fontana and then Las Vegas on the 21st and 28th this month.

The Top 5 is dominated after Martin by Elliot, uan Montoya with the Target Chevy, and Kurt Busch in the Miller Lite Dodge.
