PHOTO! Here again is a picture and update on Cookie Johnson’s CJ Jeans. LALATE profiled Cookie Johnson’s CJ Jeans for Nordstroms in June of 2009. The jeans line from Magic Johnson’s wife got huge praise for design. But among LALATE readers in June, the reaction on pricing was two thumbs down.

In June LALATE readers found fault with the pricing.

One reader wrote: “They are really expensive and I would love to see your prices lowered so that others will be able to afford them. The average woman can afford to pay between 60-80 dollars for a pair ofjeans. Thanks and I hope that one day, I am able to afford a pair of CJ jeans.

Another added: “… at the price that you have your jeans I will never be able to afford them. If the price was reasonable for my budget them I would probbly buy two pair. I am sure others will fill the same as I do, because some of us are on a tight budget we do wish we could afford pay $100 to $150 for one pair ofjeans

The concern was the pricing was beyond most concern spending levels: “Yes, if the price was just a bit lower for the people like me that are on a fixed income I could see me buying 2 pair. “

Finally: “I saw you on the news and the jeans look great and would love to have a pair but the price is outrageous for the non wealthy and famous women in the world. “

Cookie had in June said of her jeans:

“I couldn’t find jeans to fit my body type. It frustrated me to try on every pair in the store and leave with nothing….

“I’ve seen everything from tears of relief to sexy struts in front of the mirror,” she smiles. “The confidence that great-fitting jeans give women is the most rewarding thing about creating Cj.”

Cookie is a graduate of Michigan State University, with a top degree in Retailing of Clothing and Textiles. Her jeans offer more room in the back and upper thighs, some coming in bootcuts.
