NCAA Bans Hashtag, Websites: Promises #fines

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – NCAA has banned hashtags, websites and Twitter accounts from their football stadium. And they vow to #fine you if you dare #smh at NCAA officials.

An NCAA hashtag ban shocked soccer fans late yesterday. Many note that hashtags have been on NCAA football stadium fields since late November. So why now in May 2013 is the NCAA changing their mind? The revelation was unearthed in a new NCAA’s Football Rules Committee memo published this week. It prohibits and social media references in college football. “All other items, including social media designations such as URLs and hashtags, are prohibited”, the NCAA has now ruled.

The league has determined that “Except as noted herein, there may be no advertising on the field, which includes the end zones and sideline areas.” But teams may display logos, just without an hashtags or url designations.

There are new rules about jerseys as well. “Jersey numerals must be of a color that itself is clearly in distinct contrast with the color of the jersey, irrespective of any border around the number”, officials tell news.

Players should forget wearing sunglasses. Those aren’t allowed either. “Eye shields, including spectacles, goggles and other items covering the eyes, must be clear and not tinted.”

And leave your teeny, tiny towels at home. Officials tell news that they won’t allow small towels on the field. Officials have also ruled the “Each pylon may bear a manufacturer’s logo or trademark. Institutional logos, conference logos and the name/commercial logo of the title sponsor of postseason games are also allowed. Any such marking may not extend more than 3 inches on any side.”

Ohio St. Logo Mistaken for Pot by Tennessee Police

Ohio St. Logo Mistaken for Pot by Tennessee Cops

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – An Ohio State logo was mistaken for pot by Tennessee cops this weekend. An Ohio State logo sticker was on the bumper of an elderly couple’s car while they were driving through Tennessee. But when two Tennessee police saw the sticker, the cops wanted to arrest the senior citizens on possessions charges.

Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni and Giorgio Boggioni this weekend had a startling surprise. The two are from Columbus Ohio. But Bonnie’s mother had died. So they had to attend her funeral out of town.

But as they returned home, they drove though Tennessee. There, the 65 year old couple had the surprise of a lifetime. Police pulled them over and sought to arrest them on possessions charges.

“What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?” one of the cops told the couple. The story gets more absurd when Giorgio got out of the car, only tor reveal that he was wearing the 2002 national-championship sweatshirt, one “complete with a Buckeye leaf”. That enraged the cop even more.

The officer told the couple that there were free to proceed. He didn’t arrest them. But according to Joe Blundo of The Columbus Dispatch, the cop actually told the couple to remove all Ohio state logos from the bumpers of their car when driving through Tennessee. He even said to get rid of the sweater as well. The couple did not comply with the requests.

who won the 2012 Heisman Trophy Winner win live results tonight Johnny Manziel

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was announced in live results tonight. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner was announced before a full audience at the Best Buy Theatre in Times Square in New York, and aired live on ESPN this evening December 8, 2012. And Johnny Manziel won the trophy.

Collin Klein of Kansas State, Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M and Manti Te’o of Notre Dame were tonight’s nominees. But before tonight’s telecast, most news analysts thought that Johnny Manziel was the front runner. A year ago this week, Robert Griffin III beat out other Heisman Award 2011 finalists Andrew Luck, Trent Richardson, Tyrann Mathieu, and Montee Ball.

Griffin at the time told news that he was honored, not just by the nomination, but also by the honor to represent Baylor. Since then RG3 has shocked fans and news analysts by his progress in the NFL.

Just days ago, Jason Pierre-Paul told news that RG3 has gotten so good in one year that he believed he is bigger threat in the pocket than Drew Brees. “Just playing that option, man, is crazy,” Pierre-Paul said. “I think we’re one of the best teams that have played it, played it well, but it’s a pain in the ass. I hate playing it.” He also told news “So now going up to like a traditional offense, we know what we’re going to probably get, and it’s much easier.”

While RG3 has impressed news with an incredible rookie season, 2011 nominee Honey Badger Tyrann Mathieu has battled troubles off the field. Just days ago, Honey Badger told news “After much thought and reflection, I have decided to forego my remaining college eligibility. It is my intention to apply to enter the 2013 NFL Draft. It is time for me to move forward” he told news in a statement Tuesday.

Honey Badger hasn’t played a game since the BCS National Championship since Jan. 9, 2012. Since then, he was removed from LSU’s team for a failed substance test and he has been arrested for alleged possession as well.

Army Navy Prank Prompts Bill the Goat Kidnapping, Recovery

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – An Army Navy prank resulted in the kidnapping of the Bill the Goa before the Army Navy 2012 football game. Bill the Goat, the Naval Academy Mascot, has been safely returned home to John Jordan, manager of Maryland Sunrise Farm. But from Thursday to Saturday, Bill was missing, officials confirm to news today.

On Saturday, Bill the Goat was found. Navy Times report that the goat was found tied up on Army Navy Drive in Arlington, VA. Bill was not harmed. Previous goat kidnappings have targeted Bill XXXII, Bill XXXIII and Bill XXXIV. Jordan tells news he is unsure which Bill was taken last week.

“At this time, we are unaware of who may have taken the goat, but it could be related to the Army-Navy game Dec. 8,” a Navy spokeswoman said in a news statement in the Navy Times today. “Bill the Goat has been a part of our 10-game winning streak against Army, so we are glad to have him back before the big game next week.”

Five years ago, after another kidnapping, Frank DeMaro, a West Point spokesman, purportedly issued a statement to news that “We never confirm or deny the existence of nuclear weapons, special operations forces or goat kidnappings. However, it is our understanding that the goats are in better shape now than they have ever been.” This week, another West Point spokesperson told news that the school had “no official knowledge” about Bill’s disappearance and added that the two academies have agreed not to steal mascots anymore.

Montee Ball Breaks FBS Record with 79 Touchdowns

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Montee Ball broke the FBS record with his 79th career touchdown today. Montee Ball broke the FBS record previously held by Travis Prentice.

During his 1996 to 1999 seasons, Prentice at Miami (Ohio) delivered a record seventy-eight touchdowns. But during the first quarter of Saturday’s game, Wisconsin running back Montee Ball broke Prentice’s record. Ball’s almost broke the record against Ohio State last Saturday.
Today’s record put him ahead of previous running back standouts Marshall Faulk, Ron Dayne, Cedric Benson and Ricky Williams.

In 2011, Ball tied Barry Sanders record. During that year, Ball matched Sanders’ record for most touchdowns in a single season with thirty nine.

Before Saturday, Ball had seventeen touchdown runs this season, along with an impressive six receiving touchdowns. He now sits ahead of Prentice, Ricky Williams with seventy-five touchdowns, Taurean Henderson with sixty-nine, and Brock Forsey with sixty-eight.

Ball’s Twitter profile simply states “Thanking the lord each day for what he has done for me!”. Ball has yet to comment to news about today’s record achievement.
