National Bracket Day 2012 Kicks Off NCAA Tournament Brackets Frenzy

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – National Bracket 2012 today kicked off the NCAA brackets frenzy, if Selection Show Sunday results didn’t do that already. NCAA Tournament officials tell news, however that the frenzy this year will be heightened by a new initiative fueled by Hollywood celebrities. It’s called Brackets Everywhere and will feature everyone from Outkast to Wolf Blitzer taking to the court of media news publicity.
Big Boi from Outkast has joined NCAA partners CBS Sports and Turner Sports as they launch a massive news media blitz to saturate focus on NCAA printable brackets. Conan O’Brien has already debuted his own brackets on TNT (see above).
Other celebrities joining the initiative include , Kevin Hart, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. CNN will add some of its on-air hosts to the mix as well, including Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper and Soledad O’Brien, even the popular Robin Meade.
Christina Miller, senior vice president, Turner Sports Strategy, Marketing and Programming and senior vice president and general manager of NBA Digital, debuted the initiative to news this weekend. Miller leads the team as part of the second year of partnership between CBS and the NCAA.
Miller tells news “Now in our second year partnering with CBS for March Madness, we have the opportunity to really dive in and take advantage of the scale and breadth of our brands, talent and creative capabilities.” Miller added “Brackets Everywhere plays into an iconic March Madness element which excites fans, while the energetic musical performance by the Black Keys will reflect the intensity the sport delivers”.
But for CBS and Turner, the media ideas don’t end with celebrities. The initiative will also head to Hollywood, literally. Massive brackets are now appearing at the intersection of Hollywood and Highland. One will be debuted today at Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal in New York.
What is possibly left in the idea box for promoting March Madness? Don’t surprised if you see printable workstation kiosks in airports in the future to print your brackets before boarding a plane flight to watch the games. To get your printable brackets for now, visit NCAA.com.
