In September 24 story here, People ran an article which said “Some Mixed Reactions. Still, a few “Claymates” are taking the news hard. “

Now today in October 6, 2008 story here by the same author, People links to the September 24 article but now says “many”. “Writing on various message boards, many Aiken fans expressed feelings of betrayal by the American Idol alum.”

“Many”? “Betrayal”?

What do you think?

For LALATE - we’ve been a fan of Clay Aiken and of course remained a fan of Clay Aiken. But when Aiken music news or great Aiken charity work on projects like Unicef receives on some other websites none or nominal coverage, that’s not right.

Jaymes Foster on Clay:

“He’s an incredible caregiver. As far as changing the diapers and seeing what’s wrong with [Parker] and getting him to go sleep, Clay’s a natural and he’s really, really good with that. On a larger scale, he’s the perfect person. He’s been a school teacher, we have the same morals, family is very important to him and Parker means everything to us.”

“I totally support him. It’s his choice. It’s a choice that he made. I love him and I’ll support him in any choice that he makes, whether as an entertainer, or a father, human being, of course I support him.”

VIDEO! Watch video of Clay Aiken on Good Morning America. Clay Aiken speaks with Good Morning America about Parker Foster Aiken, Jaymes Foster, Spamalot and more.

LALATE has some of the Aiken Good Morning America excerpts. LALATE’s fav Clay Aiken meets with LALATE’s other fav, Diane Sawyer (more on Diane in a second) Thursday.

Aiken says: “I can’t raise a kid and teach him how to lie, teach him to hide things. I can’t raise a kid and teach him to keep secrets,” Aiken tells Diane Sawyer. “And at the same time, I also don’t ever want to raise him in an environment where it’s not OK for him to be exactly who he is, no matter what.”

Aiken speaks about Parker Foster Aiken born 8-8-08.

Aiken says now is “an obvious time to just, you know, let the guard down and say, ‘I have a responsibility for someone other than myself now.’”

On Parker: “He’s a loud one, that’s for sure. He’s got some lungs on him.”

Aiken wrote on his Web site following the People interview: “Suffice it to say, for the first time in recent memory, I am speechless. I’m so proud to know and love all of you.”

… and about Diane? LALATE turned down an offer to attend Columbia School of Journalism even after encouragement from Sawyer several years ago. She’s an incredible person, like Clay.

Clay Aiken admits he’s gay as broke yesterday. Now Clay Aiken questions if fans hopefully will stay with him after his gay cover. Of course us they will stay!

Clay Aiken’s gay People cover has nothing to do with his enormous talent as a performer and heart as a person who has helped world causes that remain front and center here and the focus of LALATE Clay readers.

“It was the first decision I made as a father,” says Clay. “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn’t raised that way, and I’m not going to raise a child to do that.”

On fans, Clay says: “Whether it be having a child out of wedlock, or whether it be simply being a homosexual, it’s going to be a lot. … I’ve never intended to lie to anybody at all…. But if they leave, I don’t want them to leave hating me.”

On baby Parker: “I have no idea if he’ll be gay or straight. It’s not something I’ll have anything to do with, or that he’ll have anything to do with. It’s already probably up inside the code there … No matter what the situation you’re in, if you’re raised in a loving environment, that’s the most important thing.”

Clay Aiken fans have been beyond happy since last week’s return to Broadway for Aiken’s second run in Spamalot. Those reviews up later today on LALATE!
