Celine Dion's Son Heels? Singer Jokes During Couric Interview

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Celine Dion’s son walks in heels better than her, the hit singer jokingly tells Katie Couric this week. Celine Dion’s son Nelson is so athletic, the singer tells news, that he can out pace her at home in any pair of heels.

Celine Dion made the revelation to Katie Couric in her news interview this week. Celine told news that she owns three thousand pairs of shoes, manly heels. But despite years of performing, Dion says she still can’t figure out how to walk in them comfortably.

But her two year old, that’s no problem. Nelson posed for a picture with his mom in the heels at home.

Celine joked: “One of my sons, Nelson, who is two-and-a-half year, he looks better in heels that me.” She also told news “I don’t know how he does it, but I’m not the only one in the family who loves shoes, believe me.” When asked how many pairs she has she said “I stopped counting because I’m not very good at math… I told you that!’”

Celine has old son René-Charles. But after several unsuccessful attempts, Celine and husband Rene Angelil welcomed twins Nelson and Eddy in 2010. The couple’s rep told news in October that year “Celine is resting now and they plan to discuss what to name the boys when she wakes up. René-Charles has been to the hospital to visit his brothers, and is just so excited they are here.”

Celine Dion Not Dead – Singer Battles Fake Death, Plane Crash Story

Celine Dion Not Dead - Singer Battles Fake Death, Plane Crash Story

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Celine Dion is not dead. Celine is battling at least two different false death reports today. Both erroneous reports claim Dion died in catastrophic events. One fake report claims that Celine Dion died in a private plane crash today. Another false report claims that Celine Dion has died in a Route 80 car crash. Both reports are fiction, and fans are irate.

Celine Dion is the latest celebrity to battle fake death reports. Since 2007, celebrity fake death reports have continued to surface, predominately in the evenings or on the weekends. Today’s report began to spread in the late afternoon today March 15, 2012. But a quick perusal online reveals the fake death reports are neither new, nor original.

First, one fake Celine Dion death report claims she died in a plane crash. The culprit for the story is Global Associated, aka Mediafetcher. In a fake article entitled “Celine Dion presumed dead in private plane crash”, Global claims that Celine died today at “Denver Peak-Regional Airport”. Unfortunately, there is no such airport. Celine wasn’t traveling in the region either. But the false report states “a small private aircraft in distress ceased radio contact with the control tower and fell below radar frequency after reporting engine trouble and smoke in the cockpit. Actress, Celine Dion was believed to have been a passenger on the flight.”

But don’t believe the report. The same Denver Peak-Regional airport story has been used before by Global. Lil Wayne is not dead today either. But he too is listed erroneously as having died today as well at Denver Peak-Regional. The same is true for Chingy.

In August 2011, Chingy battled the same fake report that Celine is battling today. In March of this year, however, the same false report was used against Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne is not dead, but Global has listed the rapper dead today from more than three different causes – a BMW crash, a plane crash, even a jet ski crazy. Besides the rapper and Celine, the same false report has been used previously against everyone from Snoop Dogg to Chuck Norris, even against actor Tom Green.

Second, Global is also claiming that Celine is dead today in a car crash. If you guessed the location of the fake crash is “along route 80″, then you were correct. The infamous Route 80 fake car crash death story is today listing Celine as its victim. “Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Celine Dion lost control while driving a friend’s vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly” reads the false report.

More than a dozen celebrities have been listed erroneously dead on Route 80. From Pauly D to Daddy Yankee, the most infamous fake report used with the Route 80 story was that concerning David Guetta. Since 2011, that same fake David Guetta death story has resurfaced innumerable times. The story is always about a fake Route 80 car crash.

If the fake tale sounds familiar, it should. It has been used to kill off sporting athletes to musicians, from David Beckham to Daddy Yankee. Fake celebrity death stories often originate from several different sources and often via several different social networking methods.

Celine is not dead. She wasn’t flying in Denver today, nor driving on Route 80. Lil Wayne isn’t dead, David Guetta hasn’t died, and Chingy and Pauly D are very much alive as well.

Caesars Palace Celebrates Celine Dion Concert Return

LAS VEGAS (LALATE) – Last week, Caesar Palace celebrated the return of Celine Dion and the launch of her 2011 concert dates. But today Celine Dion continued the celebration with a shock for Oprah Winfrey fans. Oprah revealed to her Monday television audience today that Celine has been on her show more times than any other celebrity in history: twenty-seven times.

With that introduction, Oprah told her audience guests the following: “So, audience really try to get tickets to Celine’s new show because it is going to be spectacular, but you know what? Today’s your lucky day”. Reportedly every audience member got two tickets to her show at Caesars Palace, plus two nights stay at Caesars Hotel and Casino.

It was an exciting day for Oprah fans.

But earlier in the broadcast, Oprah welcomed the McGhee sextuplets. After Dion joined the broadcast, she and Oprah gave gave the parents of the McGhee sextuplets, Rozonno and Mia McGhee, not just tickets but front row seats to Celine’s concert plus a honeymoon in the Caesars Palace’s Emperor Suite.

Celine’s last show A New Day … Live in Las Vegas ran in Las Vegas from 2003 to 2007. It changed the face of Las Vegas nightlife, reformulated the perceptions of City, and sold unmistakable number of rooms and tickets. The concerts attracted over 3 million people and $400 million in sales.

Last week, Dion returned to Las Vegas with Rene Angelil, son Rene-Charles and twins Eddy and Nelson. For now, she is getting ready on finishing touches for her upcoming dates.

Last year she told news that there will be 70 dates per year. In 2010, she told Larry King:

“It’s going to be a brand new show. I’m very excited, again. What’s great about show business, you can always try to surpass yourself or be the best of yourself (sic) and do something else.”

“We’re not trying to do the Vegas show again. We’re not trying to do the ‘Taking Chances’ again. We’re trying to, and we will have a 31-piece orchestra. We’re going to sing. We’re going to do great music (sic), Hollywood movie tribute.”

The dates start at the Colosseum on March 15 and run for three years. Initially twenty dates will run Mach 15 to April 17.

Eddy Marnay - Celine Dion Names Eddy after Songwriter

CORAL CABLES – Celine Dion has named son Eddy after the late Eddy Marnay. Celine Dion has honored Eddy Marnay, her reps tell news today, whose impact on Dion’s career was critical. Marnay passed in 2002 and age 82. Celine Dion was only a teenager in Quebec in the 1980s when Eddy Marnay started writing for her. Marnay’s songs for Dion were French language hits.

The Algerian born songwriter had moved to Paris in the 1930s. His collaboration on Lovers of Paris for Édith Piafput him on the map in 1948. By 1957, he wrote the title song for A King in New York for Charlie Chaplin.

But decades later, Marnay’s song La Voix du Bon Dieu is said to have changed Dion’s life. That french language hit earned Dion a contract with CBS Records. He would go on to produce the singer’s first five records.

Dion’s rep today says to PEOPLE “He was like a father to her. Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives.” Dion and husband Rene named Eddy’s twin Nelson, after Nelson Mandela. Mandela and Dion met two years ago.
