Why?

The Hello cover is cute, but honestly, nothing compared to People’s super adorable cover. Both mags used the same photoshoot with both splitting rights to the pictures reportedly by territories (People, North America; Hello, elsewhere) and price tag (purported $14 million). But who had the first pickin’ on the cover picture?

If LALATE had to choose, the choice would have been the picture People went with of Knox and Vivienne on the cover.

Honestly, having two parents looking at the babies, but not holding them, is a bit … dry. People’s cover of Knox and Vivienne is warm, charming; you can see the expressions on Brad and Angelina. Hello’s cover is well — average.

People of course wins the big thumbs up from LALATE by opting for an insert pic on the cover of Shiloh and Viv. Girl power in the Pitt household, page one!

For the first time we know now that Hello with Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline’s spread will drop tomorrow Monday on newsstands (non U.S.) along with People (U.S.).

But LALATE loves the Shiloh and Vivienne insert picture on the cover. Adorable!

People runs 19 pages in the print issue tomorrow. Hello! magazine also this week.

LALATE earlier this weekend gave you reports that the deal had People and Hello splitting a $14 million price tag, with Getty reportedly involved with the process. People will have reportedly North American rights, and Hello elsewhere. Despite that, tonight, several leading U.S. sites still are incorrectly reporting this is a purely People deal. But whoever has the deal, the best thing is all the money goes to a charity established by Jolie and Pitt.

All members of the Jolie-Pitt family are believed to be in the spread. It’s not yet clear if different baby pictures will appear in each publication. LALATE speculates the pictures were probably taken inside the amazing Chateau Miraval, first depicted here on LALATE.

This makes the Angelina Jolie baby picture sell a bit more complicated than initially predicted. Initial belief was the photo sale would be between the Jolie-Pitt and one publication. Now word that the deal is between the Jolie-Pitts and Getty Images with a license to People and Hello. With a price tag LALATE estimates between $12 and $15 million, a three party deal makes more heads get into the deal for their market / territory at possibly a more feasible partial price.

$12 million for one publication would have been a huge amount to pay, especially if that publication doesn’t have worldwide circulation.

While Reuters doesn’t explain the complete details as to relationships between Getty, People and Hello, the most important thing is - all the money goes to charity.

People will have its pictures Monday, Hello thereafter (assumedly the same day). “We’re thrilled to be able to feature these pictures in People. They will delight our readers who have followed the growth of the Jolie-Pitt family,” Larry Hackett said in a statement.

And LALATE is thrilled too. People does the best baby spreads (much better than OK!) The terms of the deal were not announced. LALATE has reported for several months that the price tag should come in at roughly $12 to $15 million with the proceeds going 100% to a charity of Jolie and Pitt’s choosing.

Her hospital issued a statement yesterday that she was to be held longer. Of course, if you believe that, that you are fool.

Sure enough, early this morning, it was time for the “escape” as photographers waited for the celebrities poised for a pursuit.

Jolie was ready. She made the slip for the Chateau at 4:00 am with twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, claims reports. But the word was …. Jolie was a pro! In fact, she was able to evade most of the photographers. Unreal.

It’s not quite clear what worked, if it was the hour of the day or the means in which she did it. But you aren’t going to out smart Jolie, any day, anytime.

At this moment, press aren’t even sure where Brad Pitt was during this moment. They say the babies were with Jolie.

LALATE’s guess is that the babies snuck out with Pitt separately. The target of photographers was in fact Jolie, not the babies. If you think about it, Jolie at her height was the easier snap, compared to newborns wrapped up, almost unable to be photographed.

Jolie checked in to the hospital originally by helicopter. That fueled speculation that she would return home to Miraval by the same. But LALATE had told you that photogs had already rented helicopters to fly by near Jolie if she chose to return the same to Chateau Miraval. The plan: snap her midway in flight.

Of course, ALL this is in clear violation of French laws. Those laws recently profiled on LALATE are over a century old and strictly prohibit certain photography of celebrities otherwise permitted in modern laws in countries like the U.S. Many insiders believe that is why Jolie chose France for the birth.
