Medea Benjamin, Code Pink: Obama Heckler Interrupts Speech Todayl

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Medea Benjamin of Code Pink interrupted President Obama’s speech today May 23, 2013 only to be thrown out of the press conference. Medea Benjamin began interrupting Obama’s speech today shortly after 12:10 PM PST. Obama began to include references to his critic before she was eventually thrown out of the press conference for members of the news media.

Medea Benjamin began interrupting President Obama’s speech today shortly after he began to reference Guantanamo. Obama had said “I once again call on Congress to lift the restrictions on detainee transfers from Guantanamo.”

Earlier today on her Twitter account, Medea Benjamin tweeted “TODAY in #DC @ 11am: Join @CODEPINK outside of the NDU at 2nd and Q Streets SW while the Prez if giving speech: #NoDrones & #CloseGitmo!”.

But as the Benjamin’s protests got louder, Obama paused and smiled. He then told her “Let me address it ma’am…you should let me finish my sentence, today”.

He continued. “I have asked the Dept of Defense to designate a site in the United States where we can hold military commissions.. I am lifting the moratorium on detainee transfers to Yemen, so we can review them on a case by case basis.”

But once he turned to the Boston bombings, Obama stopped his speech again. “It is in a court of law that we will try Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is accused of bombing the Boston Marathon….I willing to cut the young lady who interrupted me some slack, because it’s worth being passionate about.”

At that point, the President paused again. “We’re addressing that ma’am..I’m going off script as you might expect here…the voice of that woman is worth paying attention to.” He later added “The voice of that woman is worth paying attention to, obviously I do not agree with much of what she said.” And then she was escorted from the press conference.

Obama Bangs Debuted at Palin Nerd Prom via DJ Khaled

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Palin Nerd Prom remark battled Obama bangs last night. Palin’s Nerd Prom remark struck online after Palin took issue with the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, an evening which featured Obama wearing Michelle Obama’s bangs and delivering a Jay-Z joke.

Palin remarked last night “That #WHCD was pathetic. The rest of America is out there working our [bleeps] off while these DC [bleep]clowns throw themselves a #nerdprom”. Palin has never attended the WHCD. But she has attended a Vanity Fair party. He further told news “Yuk it up media and polls. While America is buried in taxes and a fight for our rights, the permanent political class in DC dresses up and has a prom to make fun of themselves. No need for that, we get the real joke.”

Obama got laughs after he told news he would change up his look for his next four years. Debuting his Obama bangs photos, the President said “So we borrowed one of Michelle’s tricks. I thought this looked pretty good, but no bounce.”

Other jokes form the night included “I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist I used to be.” And the Obama Jay-Z joke got a good response as well. “I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one of them”. Actors Kevin Spacey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Claire Danes were in attendance last night. And for his theme song, Obama entered the room to the track “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled.

Hadiya Pendleton, Student who Performed at Obama Inaugural, Shot Dead

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Hadiya Pendleton is dead in a random shooting. Hadiya Pendleton was a student who had just performed in President Obama’s inaugural 2013 ceremony. Police confirm that Hadiya was shot dead by random gunfire in the Chicago area Tuesday afternoon.

Hadiya Pendleton just days ago performed with her King College Prep High School band for President Obama’s inauguration ceremony in Washington. But on Tuesday, she was fatally shot.

Officials tell news that rain was moving into the area midday yesterday. Hadiya, 15, was spending time at Vivian Gordon Harsh Park with friends. Around her were a group of roughly twelve fellow students.

But shortly after 2:30 pm, for reasons still unknown, a person jumped a fence, ran toward the teens, and began opening fire. Hadiya died roughly an hour later. Another teen was shot in the leg and remains hospitalized at Comer Children’s Hospital today.

No arrests have yet to be made. A resident tells local news “We hardly … have any crime. There’s been a few break-ins over the past two years since we’ve been here, but nothing that’s ever caused alarm.”

Obama: Son Football Hopes Denied

Obama: Son Football Hopes Denied

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – President Obama says, if he had a son, he probably wouldn’t allow him to play football. Obama’s football remarks were made in advance of the 2013 Pro Bowl lineup taking to the field Sunday.

Obama tells news this weekend that is he concerned less about the NFL, and more about college football. He claims that they growth of concussion cases in college and high school football is not being adequately addressed.

In a news interview with the New Republic, Obama says that college football players are not allegedly being protected as well as NFL players. Obama points to the NFL Players Union. He also notes that, at that point, players are grown adults who are able to make life decisions and are being paid handsomely for their risks. But he is worried about college players.

Obama says that college players are allegedly engaging in risks of concussion injures and “so forth and then have nothing to fall back on.” He tells news that the NCAA needs to “think” more about the problem which he contends has not been adequately examined.

Obama says the way the game is played will change “gradually” eventually. He says that it is necessary so that “fans maybe won’t have to examine our consciences quite as much.”

Obama Uncle Deportation Hearing Revisited for Onyango Obama

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The deportation case of Obama’s uncle is heating up again. President Obama’s uncle Onyango Obama was ordered to leave the United States in 1992. Since then, he has refused to leave. Now the deportation case of Onyango Obama is being revisiting by an appeals court.

The case will be reexamined this month. Onyango Obama’s attorney requested and got a hearing on a motion for reconsideration. While that motion is pending, his attorney will reapply for him to become a U.S. citizen as a Kenyan national.

“We are delighted that the Board of Immigration Appeals has decided to reopen the deportation case of President Obama’s uncle, Obama Onyango,” his attorney said in a news statement. “Mr. Onyango now has an opportunity to stay in the U.S. and apply for permanent residency. Mr. Onyango is the brother of the U.S. president’s late father and came to the U.S. in the 1960s on one of the last boat lifts.”

Obama arrived in the U.S. in 1963. In 1989 he was order deported. “The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) remanded the case back to Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) for reconsideration. It is inappropriate for ICE to offer any further comment on this case,” Brian P. Hale, ICE assistant director, said in a news statement to CBS today.

Obama as Jesus Painting Prompts NY Debate

Obama as Jesus Painting Prompts NY Debate

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – An Obama as Jesus painting is prompting debate in New York, again. The Obama as Jesus painting is entitled “The Truth” by Michael D’Antuono. The painting was first hung in New York City as an art installation. Criticism about the painting prompted its removal. It then moved to its current location at the Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery. Now that criticism is returning.

Just days ago, Jamie Foxx dominated news for his own comments about the President. At last Sunday’s Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas, Fox said “It’s like church over here. It’s like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior, Barack Obama.”

But today, Karen Norton, spokeswoman for Bunker Hill Community College, is defending the work. She tells the Boston Globe in a news statement that the work is intended to be “thought provoking. “Some of our shows are meant to be thought provoking.” She added “The exhibit was intended to coincide with the presidential election, and it represents different points of view pertaining to politics and our political leaders.”

The work was intended to originally hang in New York’s Union Square Park. But the artist tells news that he wasn’t trying to compare Obama to Jesus. He says people don’t get the “point of the painting”.
