Anna Fermanova No Russian Spy Charges

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – While news has questioned if Anna Fermanova is the latest accused Russian spy, Anna Fermanova (pictures below) doesn’t face spy charges. Anna Fermanova faces smuggling charges. Anna Fermanova is not accused of spying for anyone, let alone Russia. She claims she is a hair and makeup girl from Texas who simply checked the wrong thing into her luggage en route to Russia.
Anna Chapman was put under surveillance by undercover federal agents. Anna Fermanova was simply arrested going through JFK airport. Chapman was accused of communicating with Moscow computers with a special wireless add-on devices inserted into her laptop. Fermanova claims she simply bought items on the internet and was trying to resell them in Russia. As such, the level of allegations between the two is not comparable.

Chapman was the subject of a stunning spy sting in which an uncover agent named UC-1 got Chapman to confirm her net conversations with Russia. UC-1 told Chapman. “Tell me how is everything? How are you doing? Chapman replied “Everything is cool, apart from connection [on the computer] … I just need to get some more information about you before I can talk.” UC-1 responded “I work in the same department as you but I work here in the consulate. Okay. My name is Roman. My name is Roman, I work in the consulate.”
Fermanova’s attorney calls the charges against his client “silly”. Fermanova is a Latvian born US citizen, Chapman was a Russian born citizen staying in the U.S.

Yet, what made federal officials cause to question Fermanova was not just the items she was seeking to transport but the alleged condition they were in. Three Raptor 4X considered generation 3 scopes were allegedly packed in Fermanova’s suitcase and checked into baggage at Kennedy airport. Would a real spy smuggle something through baggage claim? Fermanova says she knew exactly what the items were, that she bought them online while in Texas, and was simply taking them to Russia to her husband; there they were seeking to resell them for a profit possibly to animal hunters.
While that might seem logical, federal agents accuse her scopes of having “no visible identification stickers or markings” and that key serial numbers were “covered with black marker pen”. Black pen marker? A black pen marker again doesn’t sound too sophisticated, especially for a graduate of the Ogle School of Hair Skin and Nails in 2005 who boasts a cosmetology license.
So did the hair and makeup girl from Texas understand that her item of resell was on the U.S. Munitions List, or even that there are regulations about devices being checked onto a commercial flight heading overseas? The stunning beautician says she doesn’t understand what the List is all about, that she “signed something about [regulations]” but was “not really sure what she was signing.”
Fermanova is charged with “knowingly and intentionally” attempting to export “from the United States to Russia defense articles on the United States Munitions list”. She is under house arrest reportedly in Texas and will appear in a New York court later this month.
