Anna Bjornsdottir, Miss Iceland 1974, Remains Silent about Reward

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Anna Bjornsdottir, Miss Iceland 1974 (photos below), still remains silent about winning the $2 million Whitey Bulger reward. Anna Bjornsdottir first made international news winning the Miss Iceland 1974 competition; but now, at age 57, she Anna Bjornsdottir has won an even bigger award. Local news is reporting that Bjornsdottir won part or all of the $2 million reward for James ‘Whitey’ Bulger.

When sought for comment in her native Iceland, both Anna Bjornsdottir and her current husband Halldor Gudmundsson refused to comment. The tip was the result of efforts by Anna Bjornsdottir to watch American television; she ironically knows the medium very well.

As broke on LALATE Sunday, Anna Bjornsdottir parlayed her Miss Iceland win into a major television acting and modeling career in the 1970s. Unlike many beauty pageant actresses today, Anna Bjornsdottir used her Iceland fame to move to Los Angeles in the 1970s and enter scripted television programming.

Soon she inked television appearances on sitcoms, dramas, and movies of the week that spanned nearly two decades. While never solidifying a regular tv role, Anna Bjornsdottir under the stage name “Anna Bjorn” inked many guest star roles in classic television shows. She appeared on Different Strokes, Fantasy Island (twice) and Remington Steele. U.S. databases indicate her American television credits included work up to recent years.

After her 1974 win, Bjornsdottir also appeared in countless television commercials, print ads, and modeling appearances. Briefly married to rocker Halldor Gudmundsson, Björnsdóttir appeared in Vidal Sassoon and Noxzema commercial campaigns.

Despite her Iceland win, Björnsdóttir kept a residence in Santa Monica as well. Currently, Björnsdóttir splits her time between the two locations. But in recent years, Bjornsdottir lived near Catherine Grieg.

During one unlikely encounter, Catherine Grieg and Anna Bjornsdottir became friends after attending to a stray cat. While it remains unclear if Anna Bjornsdottir ever saw Whitey Bulger, she certainly saw Grieg.
