Javier Nunez Florian and Anailin de la Rua Defect from Cuba
CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Javier Nunez Florian and Anailin de la Rua have defected from Cuba. Javier and Anailin are Cuban actors in the new film Una Noche (One Night). Una Noche is a film about Cuban teens who defect Cuba to live in Miami. Now its stars, Javier and Anailin, have done the same in real life, while promoting the film.
In Una Noche (One Night), Javier Nunez Florian and Anailin de la Rua play the roles of teens unhappy with living conditions in Cuba and defect to Miami for a better life. Una Noche attracted the attention of U.S. film critics. So this week, Javier and Anailin were invited to New York for press appearances to promote the film.
Their plane from Havana first stopped over in Miami en route to New York. But after their stopover, the film’s producer Sandy Perez Aguila lost the two actors at the departure gate.
Twenty-four hours later, police were able to open a missing persons report. They additionally were able to open Javier and Anailin’s suitcases. Inside, there was nothing. Within hours, Javier and Anailin told news that they have an attorney and will file for political asylum “based on possible persecution if they return to Cuba”.
