A Melrose Place spinoff is coming to CW! CW’s Melrose Place spinoff, yet untitled, will follow its 90210 CW spinoff, with a catch. CW and CBS Paramount want Melrose Place, following the mild success of 90210 this season on CW, to return.

No pilot is yet set. Hopefully, it won’t be the mess behind the pilot of CW.

Sadly, like 90210, the creator of the original series of Melrose Darren Star is reportedly not slated to be involved with CBS Paramount owning the rights. This is why you keep your rights, people!

Of course one person you shouldn’t expect to be returning to a Melrose Place spinoff, without some bizarre story explanation, is Rob Estes, who is now playing an entirely different character that his original Melrose character now on 90210.

And if you are keeping track, this Melrose CW could be a horrid task for any writer. MP is suppose to be a spinoff of 90210. So to do a redo of CW, you need to spinoff from the current 90210, but yet also be derive from the original MP.

Could then even do MP without Heather Locklear?

CW is making a wreck of 90210. Now CW is bringing Jason Priestley back to 90210 but not on screen. Stupid. 90210 with Jason Priestley “return” news wants your viewership only to not give you want you want.

You want to see Brandon on screen. Instead you aren’t getting it.

Nope, Priestley is returning as a director of 90210. Why can’t he appear on camera?

90210’s publicity vehicle is getting a bit annoying. Shannen Doherty will reportedly return for two more episodes later this season, some reports say more episodes for Jennie Garth.

Note to CW - this doesn’t work. If you want fans to love the characters, you sign everyone for the entire season. Pay up.

This junk of bringing in and out characters one week to another doesn’t work. This is not a guest star show. It’s an ensemble drama. Remember, it’s 90210, not Love Boat.

Honestly, 90210 is one of the few shows LALATE longs to see. But news like this, and predictable storylines week to week, is getting annoying. That and a gazillion tacky 90210 billboards in the Century City mall parking lot and escalators.

So what about Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes’ weight? One magazine reports that the weight of Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes are at issue on 90210 among cast members. Really?

US Magazine runs a new cover “Too Thin for TV” and reports today that “Beverly Hills, 90210 stars Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes are so thin that show producers and costars are poised to take action” allegedly wanting the girls to gain weight.

Yeah sure.

So which one on 90210 in the above picture is not razor thin? Dustin Milligan looks as skinny as Shenae above.

The article says reportedly some of the boys are going to have a chat with the girls about their weight. But if you believe that, by the looks of this picture, the whole cast could use a protein shake or too.

First LALATE broke reports that Taylor will appear in 90210 with a son. Then next were reports that the baby’s daddy will be a familiar name to 90210 fans.

Now today, indication that the baby’s daddy will be revealed. But will he actually appear in the show’s cast?

Luke Perry says he will not join 90210. But some reports suggest Perry could appear for a single episode to explain the storyline.

Did you watch week 2 on 90210? LALATE did and loved the new writer the show brought in for episode 2. LALATE’s hooked on 90210 — at least for now!

90210 was a ratings hit, at least for the CW! 90210’s ratings were the highest ratings for a scripted show’s premiere for CW. 90210 pulled in 4.9 for its premiere last night.

CW had been in trouble. But Gossip Girl is up in the ratings. And now 90210 has delivered for week one.

LALATE was predicting at least a 5.0 for 90210. How high is that? Shot of Love with Tila Tequila premiered for MTV at 4.2. Compare how much it costs to produce Tila’s reality show versus 90210’s expensive 2 hour filmed show — you see the profit margin result.

But will 90210 hold and build? Lets hope 90210 holds at least 4 all season. If it’s at 3 next week, this could be trouble for the CW.

That was Linda Gray on 90210! Sue Ellen was in 90210! Linda Gray gave Dallas and Beverly Hills 90210 fanatics (* cough * cough LALATE) a huge treat last night when she emerged in bed for a cameo.

Gray’s cameo only lasted a few moments. After that, you were just thinking about Linda the next two scenes.

Is Linda going to be back? Come on, bring her back!

Beverly Hills has so much to offer. No, 90210 shouldn’t be Entourage. But how exciting was it to see a high school girl taken on a plane for her first date? Not very exciting.

But Linda Gray in Beverly Hills ? Now THAT was exciting.

Everyone who wants Linda back write “SUE ELLEN!”

90210 reviews are coming in Wednesday consistent with LALATE’s 90210 reviews late last night. LALATE’s review of 90210 following its premiere called the show’s amazing acting, horrible writing, predictable storylines, and bland stylin’.

Now reviews today are saying exactly the same thing, that 90210 has too much on screen talent for a show that has dreadful writers and really no indication you are in .. 90210.

For example, reviews out of Tampa Bay today say “the new version of 90210 is simply unremarkable.”

“It’s just unfortunate that so much talent — including a surprisingly wholesome turn by the Wire alum Tristan Wilds as the Wilson’s adopted African American son Dixon — is squandered on such predictable plots.”

Fans across blogs are saying the same - they will watch as long as old cast members stay on. The most activity online last night after the premiere was over Kelly Taylor’s new baby and Dustin Milligan.
