LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – A Tamra Barney RHOC spinoff is preparing for a BravoTv 2015 launch via a Vanderpump Rules structure and programming block approach, LALATE can exclusively report. Several days ago, LALATE exclusively reported that Bravo will revamp Monday nights in 2015 with a RHOC spinoff to anchor the 10 o’clock hour after RHOC. The move is a network wide approach to its current programming landscape. Bravo is hoping to anchor RHOA Sundays with RHOA spinoffs or crossovers (Thicker Than Water season 2, I Dream of NeNe season 2), LALATE can exclusively report. And now Bravo will seek to anchor Mondays during Orange County’s 2015 run with a Tamra Barney led spinoff, LALATE can also report.
The Tamra Barney RHOC spinoff will anchor to hold viewers for four hours of programming. Bravo is seeking to keep RHOC at 6/9, then the spinoff at 7/10, and then rebroadcast RHOC after WWHL. Bravo first tested the programming block of similarity situated programming several years back with the RHOA Married to Medicine block on Sundays. Then it perfected it with the RHOBH Pump Rules anchor. But now LALATE can report that the RHOC anchor is next to get revamp.
The design is all a testament to the efforts at Evolution Media, producers of RHOBH, RHOC, Pump Rules, and the spinoff, to revamp the aging west coast franchise. Several seasons ago, RHOC ratings were falling. And while RHOBH did not have a good season last year, Pump Rules did. Several years back, LALATE exclusively reported that the Pump Rules production team includes former EPs from the similarly stylized “The Hills” (MTV). Recently LALATE reported that a Laguna Beach RHOC spinoff is likely in development.
Now it appears that is just the case. The RHOC Barney spinoff will of course focus on CUT Fitness. But the gym will function as a “reality” TV anchor to bring storylines and cast members in and out of the plotline. The demographics will be younger, like Pump Rules, with cast in their 20s and early 30s, younger than Shahs and possibly even younger than Pump Rules. The theme of the show will be less gym and more dating themes. The show is currently under development, but not production, LALATE can report. Evolution Media is set to produce.
