LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Undertaker is not dead 2014 in Houston. Mark William Calaway has not died today 2014. In fact, a fake Undertaken RIP death report today is much the same false report from 2012. The erroneous report Wednesday is the product of a hoax website falsely reporting “After seeming fine for a few days after going home Calaway was found dead in his bedroom by his wife.” It falsely adds that “Calaway was found in his Houston home dead late last night by his wife Michelle McCool”.
The Undertaker is not dead, but Mark William Calaway has battled fake death reports previously as well. In fact, LALATE has report that today’s tale is the fifth fake Undertaker death report in just ten years.
The first false RIP death story was released in 2003. That year the Undertaker was set to appear at two WWE Championship matches. But following one match, fans were told that he was “dead and buried forever”. Mark was walking around soon after that storyline, very much alive.
The second fake Undertaker death report was released in 2006. In May that year, someone edited Calaway’s Wikipedia page to list him as dead. The fabricated edit to his page claimed that Calaway had died during a car crash (that never happened). The Wikipedia page was quickly corrected, but screengrabs of the fabricated death story continued to get shared throughout the day. And yet, the RIP death stories kept on coming.
The third one was 2010. Fans watched as an empty casket was brought into the arena in 2010 during a match. Fans were told that Undertaker was left in critical condition and close to death. The only thing dead from that night was the wrestling storyline which was dropped soon after.
Finally the four fake Undertaker tale was released in August 2012. As reported on LALATE at the time, the fabricated tale claimed that Jon Cena had broken Undertaker’s neck. Fan reaction was mixed. “Is Undertaker really dead or is the storyline dead?” Other fans fumed “Someone try set a rumor how Undertaker died today? … Undertaker has been dead from Wrestlemania One.” That false report read “Just heard the WWE legend the undertaker died of a neck injury while practicing a wrestling move with John Cena”.
And now, another attempt is being pursued. Today’s fifth fake Undertaker tale reads “Mark The Undertaker Calaway was found in his Houston home dead late last night by his wife Michelle McCool.” It falsely adds “Calaway who suffered a severe concussion early on in his WrestleMania match with Brock Lesnar was taken to a hospital right after and kept overnight. After being released Monday Calaway was told by WWE CEO Vince McMahon to go home and rest after receiving a severe concussion early in his WrestleMania 30 match with Brock Lesnar….After seeming fine for a few days after going home Calaway was found dead in his bedroom by his wife.”
Undertaker is not dead. Eddie Murphy is very much alive. And so is Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne.
