ST LOUIS (LALATE) – An Idaho earthquake 2014 today has struck near Challis. The Idaho earthquake today April 12, 2014 began in the predawn morning hours. No injury reports are expected.
Officials tell news that a 3.1 magnitude Idaho earthquake hit today just after 7:06 am PST. The quake was shallow. Reps tell news that the quake started only three miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt across the region.
USGS indicates to news that the Idaho earthquake today was ten miles northwest of Challis. It was roughly one hundred miles east of Boise and one hundred miles east of Garden City. It started east of Eagle and northeast of Mountain Home, reps tell news.
In late September several quakes struck in Montana, felt in Idaho. Moreover, in May a comparable quake hit seventy miles northwest of Rexburg, Idaho and eighty-four miles northwest of Idaho Falls. The quake was eight-five miles north of Ammon, Idaho and roughly one hundred fifty miles from Helena, Montana. No damage was reported.
In July another quake hit sixty-three miles south of Bozeman and seventy-seven miles northeast of Rexburg, Idaho. The quake was also roughly one mile northeast of Ammon, Idaho. The quake was followed by a 2.6 magnitude quake near the same epicenter moments thereafter.
