LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Another Mexico earthquake today 2014 has struck the state of Veracruz. A terremoto en Mexico hoy, a moderate temblor, struck in the morning hours Tuesday April 8, 2014. No reports of injuries are expected.
The latest Mexico earthquake today struck just after 3:08 am local time. The quake was deep. USGS indicates to news that the Mexico temblor was thirty-six miles below ground level. As a result its impact was limited to around the coastal epicenter.
USGS indicates to news that the Mexico earthquake today was two miles east of Sayula de Alemna. It was three miles southwest of Oluta and five miles south of Acayucan. It was nineteen miles west of Oteapan and roughly three hundred miles from Mexico City.
Stronger quakes have not been striking this region in recent months. But in April of 2012, a 6.3 magnitude quake struck Mexico. It was also roughly one hundred miles southeast of Chilpancingo, Guerrero and the same distance from Acapulco. The temblor began only two hundred miles from Mexico City.
In January of 2013, a 4.8 magnitude quake struck the region. The quake was centered fourteen miles northwest of San Pedro Pochutla. The quake was also thirty two miles east of Puerto Escondido and sixty-two miles south of San Jacinto Ocotlan, officials told news at the time.
