LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Los Angeles, California earthquake today March 7, 2014 just struck the Southland. The Los Angeles earthquake today 3/7/14 was centered in Marina Del Rey. Damage assessment is pending.
Officials tell news that 3.2 magnitude Los Angeles earthquake started just after 8:16 pm PST tonight. The quake was shallow. Reps tell news that the quake struck on-land and only six miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt across sections of Southern California including Venice, Culver City, Santa Monica, the Pacific Palisades, West Los Angeles and Inglewood.
Reps tell news that the Los Angeles earthquake was one mile east of Marina Del Rey. It was three miles north of El Segundo and four miles southwest of Culver City. The quake started four miles west of Inglewood as well.
Several quakes have hit the same region in recent months. In July, one quake hit two miles southeast of Marina Del Rey. It started two miles northwest of El Segundo and four miles west of Inglewood. The quake was four miles southwest of Culver City as well.
In April, 2013 another quake hit the same area, posting a 3.2 magnitude. Mapping released to news at the time revealed that the April quake erupted south of Marina Del Rey, between Playa del Rey and Westchester, just east of Dockweiler Beach, and north of Manhattan Beach. The quake started two miles southeast of Marina Del Rey. The quake was three miles northwest of El Segundo and four miles southwest of Culver City.
