ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Two strong earthquakes today 2014 have struck Chile, but with different epicenters. The Chile terremotos hoy March 4, 2014 began in the morning hours. No reports of injuries have yet to be indicated by local news.
USGS tell news that the first Chile earthquake today started just after 6:17 am local time. The quake was shallow. Reps tell news that it began only seven miles below sea level. As a result, the quake could be felt across the region. USGS indicates to news that the quake was twenty-three miles west of San Antonio. It was twenty-four mile west of Cartagena and forty-five miles southwest of Valparaiso. It began forty-seven miles west of Meliplla.
Thereafter, a 4.8 magnitude quake hit at 8:24 am local time. That quake was centered on land. Reps tell news that the quake started twenty-eight miles below ground level. The quake was twenty-eight miles west of Molina, twenty-nine miles northwest of Talca. It was thirty miles west of Curico and thirty-five miles southwest of Santa Cruz.
A series of quakes have struck the same region this year. In December, one quake hit Taltal, Chile, starting twenty-one miles south of Taltal. It was fifty-two miles west of Diego de Almagro and one hundred fourteen miles from Copaigo. The quake also started one hundred forty-two miles south Antofagasta.
In May a 5.4 magnitude quake struck the country. The quake was forty-six miles east of Diego de Almagro. It was eighty-eight miles southwest of Taltal and one hundred miles east of Copiapo. The quake also started northwest of Tinogasta, Argentina and roughly five hundred miles north of Santiago.
