ST LOUIS (LALATE) – An Indonesia earthquake today 2014 has struck off the coast. Officials report that a strong Indonesia earthquake today February 13, 2014 began in the morning hours, locally February 14. No reports of injuries have yet to be indicated by local news.
USGS tells news that a 5.1 magnitude Indonesia earthquake today has struck just after 12:41 am local time. The quake was shallow however. USGS indicates that the quake started just eleven miles below sea level. As a result the quake could be felt to the east.
Reps tell news that the Indonesia quake started fifty-five miles west of Dodo. It was sixty-three miles east of Tula and roughly two hundred miles south of Nabire. The quake also started south Manokwari and roughly five hundred miles north of Darwin, Australia.
Several strong quakes have been hitting the country in recent months. In November one Indonesia quake began sixty-eight miles north of Tobelo. The quake was one hundred forty-four miles form Ternate and one hundred forty-seven miles from Kota Ternate. Reps told news at the time that the quake was roughly two hundred miles east of Bitung and roughly five hundred mils from Koror Town, Palau.
In October a 5.4 magnitude quake began ninety-four miles west of Abepura and one hundred one miles west of Jayapura. The quake was only one hundred forty-four miles west of Vanimo, Papua New Guiena.
