Officials tell news that a 2.7 magnitude California earthquake today 2014 began just after 1:49 am PST today. The quake however was shallow. Reps tell news that the quake northeast of San Francisco started only five miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt in the immediate region.
USGS indicates to news that the California earthquake today 2014 began just seven miles east of Yountville. It was nine miles northeast of Napa and thirteen miles west of Vacaville. The quake started sixteen miles northwest of Fairfield and forty miles west of Sacramento.
The region has been by several quakes last December. That month, one hit nine miles north of Hollister. It was south of San Jose east of Los Banos. The quake was twelve miles east of Watsonville and roughly one hundred miles south of Sacramento.
In August another quake was four miles east of East Foothills. The quake was the same distance east of Alum Rock and nine miles east of San Jose. The quake was north of Morgan Hill, west of Modesto, south of Fremont, and north of Gilroy.
