Officials tell news that a 3.4 magnitude Nevada earthquake today began just after 10:09 am local time. The quake was shallow. USGS indicates to news that the quake started only three miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt across the region.
USGS tells news that the quake was twenty-one miles south of Mesquite. The quake started forty miles southwest of Saint George and forty-four miles southwest of Washington, Utah. Reps tell news that the quake also began fifty-three miles south of Hurricane and roughly two hundred miles north of Phoenix.
Several Nevada earthquakes have been striking the state in recent months. In August, a 3.1 magnitude quake struck Nevada. That quake began just after 4:20 am PST but posted a notable depth. USGS indicated to news at the time that the quake started fourteen miles below ground level. The quake was thirty-nine miles north of Pioche, Nevada. That same day another quake hit on the same fault line. It was seventy-six miles northwest of Cedar City, ninety-four miles north of Saint George, Utah. The quake was ninety-four miles north of Washington, Utah and roughly two hundred miles from Salt Lake City.
