LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Red Sismica de Puerto Rico reports that a Puerto Rico earthquake today 2014 has just struck west of San Juan. The quake began midday today January 5, 2014 on the western tip of the island. Damage assessment is pending.
Officials tell news that a 2.9 magnitude Puerto Rico earthquake today began just after 12:56 pm local time toady. The quake posted a nominal depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake started only eight miles below sea level. As a result the quake could be felt across the vicinity.
USGS reports to news that the Puerto Rico quake started one mile west of Boqueron. It was four miles south of Cabo Rojo and eight miles south of Hormigueros as well. The quake started ten miles west of San German and seventy-seven miles west of San Juan.
Today’s quake began near an August 2013 temblor. That quake was six miles west of Hormigueros and eight miles northwest of Cabo Ojo. The quake began twelve miles northwest of San German and seventy-three miles west of San Juan, Puerto Rico, reps told news. The quake started fourteen miles below sea level at the time as well, officials tell news.
