Officials tell news that a 2.9 magnitude Texas earthquake today 2013 struck just after 3:43 am local time today. The quake however had a nominal depth. USGS indicates to news that the Texas earthquake began only three miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt across neighboring towns.
USGS reports to news that the Texas earthquake began two miles southwest of Reno. The quake was three miles west of Azle. It was fourteen miles west of Saginaw and fourteen miles west of White Settlement. Mapping reveals that the quake started west of Plano. It was northwest of Fort Worth and west of Dallas. The quake was northeast of Weatherford as well.
A series of quakes have been striking the state in recent months. In January a quake struck the same region. The quake was east of Dallas. Mapping revealed that the quake west of Shreveport, Louisiana, northwest of Alexandria, and west of Baton Rouge. The quake was also east of Garland, north of Lufkin and northwest of Beaumont.
Reps told news that the quake registered a 4.1 and began one miles west of Timpson and twenty-four miles northeast of Nacogdoches. The quake was also twenty-six miles southeast of Henderson and forty-one miles southeast of Kilgore at the time.
