LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Did Bravo pay for NeNe Leakes’ wedding, what is Gregg Leakes’ age, why was Walter at the wedding, and why was Kenya Moore missing from the wedding? Tonight Bravo aired arguably its biggest housewives wedding ever. In fact the NeNe Leakes wedding took up a two hour time slot. And next week, the women of Atlanta return for a new season on Real Housewives of Atlanta.
But did Bravo pay for NeNe Leakes’ wedding, and if not, who paid for Nene’s wedding? After tonight’s episode was taped, Nene and the Bravo production company behind I Dream of Nene and RHOA was sued by wedding planner Tiffany Cook. What happened to that lawsuit? The case is still pending.
Cook who appeared this season on the show sued multiple parties claiming that the budget for the wedding was $1.8 million. Cook claims the NeNe promised to pay her fifteen percent of the wedding’s budget plus additional sums. In total she asserts that the design fees for the wedding were in excess of $889,900. She also assert that NeNe paid the down payment of $18,750 but that her cost to do the wedding (not the $1.8 million budget for the wedding itself) was in excess of $1.14 million. After the suit was filed, NeNe claimed that she didn’t hire Cook and that Cook didn’t do the wedding.
So did Bravo pick up the check to do the wedding? That remains unclear. But often Bravo has paid for weddings through budgeting or promotional sponsorships in which services offered are mentioned in final credits to the show.
Yet, in the weeks after the wedding was filmed, Leakes’ lucrative sitcom project the New Normal was cancelled. As reported on LALATE over the years, however, Nene is paid in excess of one million dollars per season for RHOA taping and reunion telecast.
Other issues from tonight’s telecast however remain unclear. Making appearances during the wedding are Patti Stanger, Marysol Patton, Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley, the Fashion Queens, Kandi Burruss and others. But Kenya Moore is absent. Kenya at the time, as reported on LALATE during taping, had a prior commitment overseas and couldn’t make the wedding. But Bravo has yet to explain why Walter, Kenya’s ex-boyfriend, made an appearance during the wedding taping.
