LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A 6.5 Mexico earthquake today 2013 has just hit. The terremoto en Mexico hoy October 19, 2013 struck moments ago. The temblor is one of the strongest to strike the country in recent months. Damage assessment is pending.
Officials tell news that a 6.5 magnitude Mexico terremoto has just hit. The temblor started just after 10:54 am PST. The quake, however, posted almost no depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake was only one mile below sea level. As a result quake could be felt across the country.
USGS indicates to news that the Mexico terremoto started forty-six miles south of Ethhorpo. The quake was fifty-seven miles southwest of Huatabampo. It started sixty-two miles southwest of Villa Juarez as well.
Mexico earthquakes have been striking all year long. In April last year, a 6.3 magnitude quake struck the region. It was also roughly one hundred miles southeast of Chilpancingo, Guerrero and the same distance from Acapulco. The temblor began only two hundred miles from Mexico City.
Then in January this year a 4.8 magnitude quake stuck the region. The quake was centered fourteen miles northwest of San Pedro Pochutla. The quake was also thirty two miles east of Puerto Escondido and sixty-two miles south of San Jacinto Ocotlan, officials told news at the time.
In June, a 3.1 magnitude quake struck the same region. The quake was centered forty-miles from Guadalupe Victoria in Baja California. The quake was forty-one miles southwest of Mexicali, as well.
