ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The U17 World Cup – Copa Mundial 2013 soccer tournament schedule (en vivo live score results below) kicked off today. This Under 17 World Cup runs from today October 17 until November 8. It is being played in the UAE, not in Brazil.
The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup features many teams that have competed in only one tournament previously this year. In many cases, some nations have only had roughly four other soccer games this year before this tournament.
Officials remind news that the CONMEBOL countries in this Copa are Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Venezuela. The UEFA nations competition are Austria, Croatia, Italy, Russia, Slovakia and Sweden. And the CONCACAF nations are Mexico, Canada, Honduras, and Panama. USA is not in the tournament.
The tournament starts with six groups, A to F. In the group division, nations will play three games. For Mexico, their tournaments are Mexico vs Nigeria U17, Mexico vs Iraq U17, and then Sweden vs Mexico U17. The top two teams in the six groups advance. The top four third-place teams advance based upon a point system as well.
Then the Round of 16 matches kick off on October 28 followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. All knockout matches are one-leg games.
And how are the draw results? Mexico got a favorable draw in its Group F. It faces Nigeria, Iraq and Sweden in Group action. One of the hardest groups that fans will need to watch, however, is Group A which features UAE, Honduras, Brazil and Slovakia.
