Officials tell news that a 4.5 magnitude Guatemala earthquake today began just after 3:58 PM local time. The quake however had a moderate depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake started twenty-two miles below sea level.
USGS reveals to news that the Guatemala earthquake began forty-nine miles south of Ocos. It was fifty miles southwest of Suchiate, Mexico an fifty-nine miles south of Ciudad Tecun Uman, Guatemala as well. It also began one hundred fifty-five miles west of Guatemala City and sixty-eight miles from Tapachuta, Mexico.
The country has been hit by several quakes in recent months, some out in the sea and some on land. For example in November last year, a 7.4 magnitude Guatemala earthquake hit the country. It was centered off the coast of Guatemala, with a twenty-six mile depth, and situated roughly thirty-seven miles from Suchiate, Mexico and from San Sebastian, Guatemala.
In April this year, another quake struck six miles east of San Rafael Las Flores. The quake was twelve miles southwest of Jalapa, and fourteen miles west of Monjas. The quake was fourteen miles east of Nueva Santa Rosa and thirty miles east of Guatemala City.
