LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Royal Princess power outage 2013 today prompted cancellation of the Princess Cruises’ ship Mediterranean vacation. The Royal Princess lost power for nearly four hours yesterday. The ship is one of the company’s newest boats. But today, Royal Princess has cancelled the remainder of the ship’s Mediterranean cruise.
The Royal Princess power outage struck nearly five thousand passengers and crew members on Sunday. The boat was on a vacation from Venice. So why did a brand new boat loose power for so long?
The company tell news today that the trip was set to last twelve days. But when the Royal Princess lands in Naples on Tuesday, the journey will be halted prematurely. “The ship’s technical team continued to evaluate the problem overnight and, upon further assessment, it became apparent that repairs need to be made to fully resolve the situation,” the company said in a news statement. The company is providing passengers a full refund and a 25% discount on their next cruise.
“We have dispatched a care team to Naples to ensure that all our passengers are provided with any assistance they may require. We are deeply sorry for this unanticipated disruption of our passengers’ vacation plans, and we appreciate their patience and understanding of these circumstances.”
