LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Union Pacific train derailment accident has just struck Coal Creek Canyon, Colorado today 2013. No injuries are reported from the train crash. Local officials began reporting the derailment just after 11:20 AM PST today September 17, 2013.
The Colorado train crash happened roughly fifteen minutes ago. Jefferson County officials reported that the train derailment started near Highway 72. In a new statement, officials report that “JCSO [is] working [on] a Union Pacific train derailment in [Jefferson County] at Hwy 72 & Plainview in Coal Creek Canyon.” They added “No known injuries.”
Seven minutes later officials indicated a second train stalled. “A second train is stalled across the train tracks @ Blue Mountain Dr. in Coal Creek Canyon. Blue Mountain Estates residents area effected.” But no injuries are yet reported. “jcso will continue to update the issues associated with the two Union Pacific trains in Coal Creek Canyon”, reps tell news.
Mapping reveals that the derailment is west of Westminster, northwest of Arvada. It is located east of Rollinsville and Nederland and southwest of Boulder, Superior and Broomfield.
