LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Did Bravo pay for NeNe Leakes’ wedding on I Dream of NeNe? Tonight, NeNe Leakes tells viewers that her wedding budget will “start” at one million dollars. NeNe has since been sued by Tiffany Cook who claims that the wedding budget was $1.8 million. Tony Conway claims that he is the wedding planner on I Dream of NeNe. And while Bravo and NeNe are not clear what if anything Leakes paid for in her wedding, LALATE exclusively report that Bravo has been preparing for tonight’s show since 2010.
In 2011, LALATE was the first to exclusively report a secret project underway at Bravo called “I Dream of NeNe”. The spinoff show was inspired by an October 2010 episode of RHOA by the same name. At the time, Bravo wanted to send NeNe and Gregg into their own spinoff. But instead, NeNe and Gregg spun off into divorce court.
Bravo began to hold onto the production idea in the event that NeNe and Gregg reconcile. In 2011, LALATE first revealed a Trademark application filed by Bravo’s producer True Entertainment. True, which produces RHOA, told the Trademark office that its request was an “intent to use” aka IB classification. True represented that it still intended to do the project in the future. By 2012, Gregg and NeNe were back together. And in April 2013, Bravo confirmed the 2011 LALATE report, announcing tonight’s spinoff.
NeNe tonight tells fans “we have a second chance to do it right”. NeNe will have a $58,000 dress, she tells viewers, and nine bridesmaids. “We start at a million dollars budget and go from there.”
Bravo typically is given some free items for its shows including locations, dining, and services, in exchange for depiction of that item during the telecast and during the final credits.
NeNe says of Gregg tonight that he “wasn’t honest about things.. he was telling you the lie so not to hurt you.” Nene calls Gregg “a poet, preachers, and rapper all at the same time” while Gregg says to NeNe “you down like four flat tires.” NeNe says of the series “this is not a new wedding but a new marriage. What we did before I do not want to do it again… I don’t want to bring anything negative into the marriage.”
