LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Skywalker Ranch fire 2013 today was quickly extinguished. The total damage was only twenty-five thousand dollars, officials tell news. But that amount is now being disputed.
The Skywalker Ranch fire did not expand across the 4000 acre ranked owned by George Lucas. Rather it remained contained in a shipping and receiving building. The fire erupted just after 4 am. No other buildings or facilities used for Lucasfilm and Skywalker Sound were damaged.
A Marin County fire battalion chief credits a sprinkler system for putting out the fire on the ranch located south of Novato on Lucas Valley Road. Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said Lucas has his own fire brigade on the ranch. They responded to the blaze and were able to put it out before Marin County Fire arrived.
KTVU reports that “a call for mutual aid was issued to neighboring departments”. The fire had spread from the attic to the roof and eventually into a storage section. Within one hour the building’s fire was extinguished.
The damages are being disputed today. One report claimed only $25,000 in damage. But another claims the building is extensively damaged, with the “building’s unique cupolas” having being ruined.
