LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – “Miley Cyrus makes history” and “Singer Breaks Silence” are two of the peculiar entertainment news headlines coming out of the VMAs, now days later. The source is none other than MTV itself. Cyrus hasn’t remained silent since her VMA performance. But today, MTV which aired the special is proclaiming an exclusive entertainment news interview with Cyrus, “breaking her silence” about how she made “history”. Others are wondering what is so historic in Miley’s mind.
In speaking with the broadcaster, Cyrus compared herself to Britney Spears and Madonna. “I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?”
Cyrus tells entertainment news that the entire performance and its expected shock factor were conceived far in advance. “Me and Robin the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,” she tells MTV. “What’s amazing is … people are still talking about it. They’re over thinking it,” she adds. “You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me!”
Cyrus says she is not doing anything unusual. “Madonna’s done it, Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance. Anyone that performs, that’s what you’re looking for. You are wanting to make history.” Exactly what “history” Miley made remains unclear.
