LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Jackie Chan is not dead this 2013. A fake RIP Jackie Chan death report is striking today. Chan has not died, nor has Morgan Freeman, Liam Payne, or Reba McEntire. Jackie Chan fake death reports have been surfacing online for years. The Chan hoaxes usually make an assault once a year. But for reasons still unclear, Jackie Chan RIP death hoaxes for 2013, however, have been striking virtually every month. Unlike other celebrities, fake death stories striking Chan are coming from different directions.
They are fake Jackie Chan RIP Facebook pages still active after several attempts to kill him off. There are fake Twitpic stories online that cut and paste Chan’s face with someone else’s death story.
But one of the culprits in the fake Jackie Chan death reports this August is the infamous MediaFetcher aka Global Associated. According to Global’s fake RIP Jackie Chan stories, the actor “died” “today” simultaneously in two different countries. And if that sounds unusual, Global is claiming that 50 Cent and Lil Wayne both died four different ways today as well. (Both rappers are very much alive).
One of Global’s fake stories striking Jackie was used by Global against Reba McEntire in January. “There is a rumor going around that I died after falling off a mountain in Austria yesterday while shooting a movie,” Reba told news in January. “While I would love to be shooting a movie in Austria, I definitely did not fall off a mountain! Nor am I dead! I am alive and kicking!!! … Have a great day.”
The first fake Global Jackie Chan story is entitled “Actor – Jackie Chan Falls To His Death In Austria”. It then asserts “Actor Jackie Chan died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning – August 31, 2013″, claiming that he “actor fell more than 50 feet to his death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie.”
The second fake Global story is entitled “Actor – Jackie Chan Dies In Queensland Australia Car Crash”. That fake story claims “Actor Jackie Chan died in a single vehicle crash between Ipswich and Willowbank in Queensland as confirmed by Royal Queensland Police – August 31, 2013.”
Both stories are the result of computer generated templates. The story reads “30 minutes ago” “still developing”, and bares today’s date. But all that is fake and dynamically generated by the template. Jackie Chan is alive. Morgan Freeman and Adam Sandler have not died. And Reba and Liam Payne haven’t died either.
