Officials tell news that one or two tornadoes were possibly spotted tonight. First the NWS tells news that “at 710 PM EDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. The storm containing the possible tornado was near Dunlo”. That system was moving, namely southeast at 20 mph this evening.
Second, NWS reports that an “unconfirmed tornado touchdown was reported earlier with this storm in East Taylor” tonight as well. It is believed to have been near Route 271.
As result, the NWS has issued a tornado warning for northwestern Bedford County, south central Cambria County, and northeastern Somerset County until 8 pm EST. Officials warn that the system could reach Belmont, Windberm, Beaverdale, Blue Knob State Park, and Geistown. Also at issue are Ogletown, Osterburg, Queen, Scalp Level and Sidman. Other “notable locations in the warning” include the “University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.”
Moreover reps indicate that “this will impact I-99 between mile markers 4 and 14″. Impacts could occur on Route 30, Route 219 and Route 220 tonight as well.
