LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Aaron Hernandez girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins lashed out at the news media this week. But it remains unknown if Shayanna Jenkins also attended a special media event this Monday for the Patriots, featuring Aaron Hernandez ironically on the invitation.
Shayanna Jenkins has refused comment since her initial questioning after the Odin Lloyd murder. But this week, Aaron Hernandez’s girlfriend had problem expressing herself to the news media as she entered and exited court. Jenkins has yet to comment in public about the case since Hernandez’s arrest. Her sister, Odin Lloyd’s girlfriend, has not appeared in public. And Shayanna has yet to comfort Odin Lloyd’s family while in court.
Local news reports that girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins walked swiftly passed Lloyd’s parents this week with no comment or acknowledgment of their court presence. Jenkins is accused by police of falsely telling them that Lloyd was a dealer, an allegation since disputed as false by local news. So when asked for comment by local news this week, Jenkins was furious, lashing out at the news media. “Get away from us. We’re not talking.”
Ironically, just as she was appearing in court, the Patriots were holding a season ticket event Monday. And the central person depicted on the invitation’s image (above) was Aaron Hernandez.
Meantime the Florida Gators this month removed Aaron Hernandez’s brick. They did not return the brick to Jenkins or Hernandez. Julie Quittner tweeted “contractor was told to take it back to their plant in Lake City”.
In a news statement, the University Athletic Association said “We didn’t feel it was appropriate to celebrate Aaron Hernandez. We put together an immediate plan after the initial news broke to remove his likeness and name in various private and public areas in the facility, such as the South Endzone team area, locker room, football offices, Heavener Complex Kornblau Lobby and the brick display entrance to the football facility.”
They added “We are able to implement some of the changes immediately and this (brick removal) was a more complex process to complete with our vendors. The plan was to have everything completed before the end of July.”
EA Sports has also removed Hernandez from their August 2013 Madden NFL 25 release and recent release of NCAA Football 14. “We made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14. Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez’ image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer,” the spokesperson said. “However, he is not in the game, and anyone who unlocks that particular Nike Skills Trainer reward will receive an Alex Smith Ultimate Team player item instead. The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future.”
