LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Idaho Fire Map 2013 for the Thunder City Fire and the Bear Lake Fire grew today as the blaze spread near the Stibnite Mining District. Officials tell news in their latest update today July 22, 2013 that the Thunder City Fire is just northeast of the Stibnite Mining District. The fire which began last Friday is now at one hundred twenty-eight acres.
Incident Commander Jeff Schricker in his latest news update today indicated that a new team is on route to the fire. A Type 2 Incident Management Team, namely, Pacific Northwest Team 3 will take over the fire tomorrow. Incident Commander Doug Johnson will be in charge of not just this Thunder City Fire but also the Bear Lake Fire staring on Tuesday.
Officials have delegated Johnson Creek as a dispatch and landing space for fire officials. At issue is how to fight these two fires with one team. Fire the Thunder City Fire is currently just outside of the Stibnite Mining District, roughly four miles northeast. Second, the Bear Lake Fire is just northeast of Yellowpine, Idaho, roughly ten miles away.
Containment levels have not been able to be reached on the eastern flanks. But officials got containment lines to work on the south and west on Sunday. For the latest fire map and more updates click HERE.
