LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The California Fires Map for the Idyllwild Fire west of Palm Springs prompted new evacuation alerts today. The Idyllwild Fire Map expanded dramatically over the weekend. As a result, fire officials want some residents read to evacuate. But the concern is not fires, but flooding.
The Idyllwild Fire Map aka the California Fires Map prompts a news update from the Riverside County Fire Department today July 23, 2013. They are advising residents that new evacuation warnings are in place. These are not mandatory orders. Rather these are warnings.
Reps tell news that they have placed “an Evacuation Warning for residents to voluntary evacuate the area of Apple Canyon Road, north of Bonita Vista Road, due to the potential for fash flooding within the recent burn areas which could result in mudslides and debris flows. If you are concerned about your safety, it is recommended that you leave now.”
However all previous mandatory evacuation orders are now listed. In their update today, officials indicated that “Highway 243 and Highway 74 are also open. While the communities of Idyllwild, Fern Valley, and Pine Cove are open to the public, Forest Orders 13-8 and 13-9 remain in effect until further notice”. All evacuation centers were closed last night as well. “Evacuation Centers closed at 8:00 P.M. on July 21, 2013… The small animal shelter will return to normal business hours beginning Monday July 22, 2013.” For the latest fire map and updates click HERE.
