The latest quake started on July 22, 2103 locally just after 12:39 am today. The quake posted virtually no depth. Officials tell news that the quake as only eight miles below sea level. As a result the quake could be felt across the region.
USGS indicates to news that the New Zealand earthquake today started twenty-four miles east of Blenheim. The quake was thirty-three miles southwest of Karori and thirty-four miles southwest of Wellington. Officials also tell news that the quake was forty-three miles southwest of Lower Hurt and forty-five miles southwest of Porirura as well. Also overnight, a 2.8 magnitude quake struck Soledad. The quake was twenty-five miles southeast of Hollister and one hundred forty-two miles from Sacramento.
