ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The British Open Leaderboard 2013 update today (current live leaderboard results below) will feature Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson striking hard in early scores for round 4. The key to the British Open Leaderboard 2013 scores for Sunday’s Round 4 are holes one to five, Mickelson tells news today. Mickelson says that, in preparing for today July 21, 2013, he knows one strategy that will work and one that will fail.
British Open Leaderboard 2013 current score are now updating live as Mickelson and others move from the first to second hole. Sergio Garcia and other golfers who had impressive runs on Saturday are now on the second.
Tiger Woods’ tee time today is 6 am PST. Woods starts the day at second, tied with Hunter Mahan. Woods is one under, just behind leader Lee Westwood, currently three under.
Mickelson tells news that the key to Sunday’s action is the first five holes. He says that there are several holes in those first five that a golfer can post great numbers. He says that if you do that, you will set yourself up ahead of the trouble for the later holes Sunday. At issue are strong winds in later holes Sunday. Insiders tell news that poor shots will veer even further off course in strong winds expected for Round 4.
Westwood also tells ESPN that there is strategy to playing Sunday’s round. “The way this golf course is set up, it is a very strategic golf course. You have to plot your way around it. Most major championships are like that.” He adds “They grind you into the ground. Mentally and physically, it’s draining, and you just have to focus on the job at hand and pile the pars up and try to make birdies whenever you can.”
Lee is seeking his first major championship after age forty. If he does so, he would be the fourth golfer to achieve that milestone since Darren Clarke at the 2011 Open Championship. For current leaderboard click HERE.
