LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Montana tornado 2013 has been spotted near Poplar in Roosevelt County. The Montana tornado today July 15, 2013 prompting a warning to be issued moments ago to residents.
The National Weather Service in Glasgow has issued a tornado warning for parts of Montana tonight. Officials tell news that the warning covers northern Roosevelt County in northeast Montana until 500 PM MDT.
Multiple spottings of the tornado are being reported locally. The NWS tell news that “At 422 PM MDT the public reported a tornado over central Roosevelt County or 21 miles north of Poplar”. The tornado is not moving swiftly however. NWS reports that it is “moving east at 15 mph.”
The projected path for the tornado remains unclear. But reps tell news that “the tornado will remain over rural areas of Roosevelt County” this evening. The tornado warning was set to expire earlier but was extended tonight. Weather Underground had tweeted “Tornado Warning for Roosevelt County in MT until 4:30 PM MDT” but has since indicated that the warning will be in place until 5 pm tonight.
Elsewhere a lesser tornado watch remains in effect until 1100 PM MDT Monday evening for northeast Montana. Meantime, no other active tornado warning remains in place Monday currently, officials tells news.
