Los Angeles Zimmerman Protests Today Continue for Trayvon Martin Supporter

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Los Angeles Zimmerman protests continued today July 15, 2013 for Trayvon Martin supporters. The last L.A. Zimmerman protests were stopped around 1 am PST today July 15, 2013 officials tell news. No Los Angeles Zimmerman rioting occurred Sunday. But La Brea, Crenshaw, Leimert Park, Beverly Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, the 10 Freeway, the 110 Freeway, and the W Hotel were all scenes of L.A. protests overnight. Some continued into the morning. Further protests are expected later today potentially at the Federal Building in Westwood and one on Crenshaw Boulevard. Islamic Hope tells news that a Leimert Park protest is set for 6 pm today.

The Los Angeles Zimmerman protests did not happen Saturday evening after the verdict was announced in the George Zimmerman case. Rather they started just before 7 PM PST Sunday. Trayvon Martin supporters walked onto the 10 Freeway at Arlington and Crenshaw and shut down traffic. There were cleared twenty minutes later with no arrests.

Thereafter, LAPD stationed officers in the middle of Crenshaw Boulevard at Adams as protests grew. By 8 pm, LAPD closed down sections of Crenshaw as peaceful protests and marches continued.

The marches were not peaceful elsewhere. The La Brea / Beverly Boulevard Zimmerman protest shut down the intersection. Protestors jumped onto passing cars. Bean bags were hurled by LAPD with some protestors claiming injuries.

The later protests sent residents up Western Avenue to Hollywood. Another cluster sent them to Hollywood Boulevard. There they were held by LAPD from entering on Hollywood Boulevard.

Protestors then stormed the W Hotel late last night. Next they attempted unsuccessfully to storm the CNN building in Hollywood as well. That protest took until just after 2 am to shut down.
