LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving The View for Fox and Friends. What happened to Elisabeth Hasselbeck? In May, Barbara Walters disputed reports that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was fired from “The View.” Today Hasselbeck confirmed that she is leaving the ABC talker.
In the spring, US Weekly claimed that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was being fired by the show. Walters denied those reports. “There’s a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth’s alleged departure saying we don’t approve of her conservative views,” Walters told news. “The truth is… we value and appreciate her point of view, it’s important to us, because it helps give the show perspective and balance.”
She later added “We have no plans for Elisabeth to leave the show. Having said that to all of you, Bill [Geddie] and I have always said that when one of you make the choice to leave, that’s your choice, and we will support your decision.”
But today, FOX News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes issued a news statement confirming that “Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on “The View”. She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
Hasselbeck also issued a news statement indicating “I have been a long-time fan of “Fox & Friends” and am excited to be joining their team in September.”
