LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Silver Fire Map 2013 today grew this morning as the Kingston, New Mexico wildfire spread east. The Silver Fire is now sending smoke to El Paso as well, incident Commander Matt Reidy tell news. The Silver Fire is situated east of Tucson, northwest of Las Cruces, reps remind new today June 19, 2013.
The Silver Fire which began on June 7 is now only seven miles southwest of Kingston, New Mexico. Smoke is seen throughout the area including parts of Silver City, El Paso and Deming.
In a news briefing last night, officials indicated that the “were able to hold containment lines and protect the community of Kingston.” They added that “The fire burned actively in Railroad Canyon, Carbonate Creek and Little Bear Canyon. Fire management officials expect the fire to be highly visible” today.
Officials are warning that poor weather conditions could grow the fire substantially today. No new evacuation orders were issued this morning. But with wind gusts reaching 35 mph today, Commander Matt Reidy is warning residents that the Silver Fire may grow another 2,000 to 6,000 acres today.
A previous evacuation order for Kingston on June 10 remains in place. Meantime “Highway 152 is closed through the Black Range, from San Lorenzo to Hillsboro.
