LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – James Gandolfini is dead at 51. James Gandolfini’s cause of death is confirmed as a massive heart attack. The actor died today June 19, 2013 in Sicily. He is survived by wife Deborah Lin, the couple’s child born last October, and his son with ex-wife Marcy Wudarski. Funeral arrangements has yet to be announced to news.
James Gandolfini died today somewhere near Taormina, local news is reporting. Taormina, Sicily was hosting their 59th Film Festival. The actor had been invited to appear at the Festival alongside director Gabriele Muccino.
Gandolfini and Lin had married in 2008. But just last fall, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl. Local news has yet to indicate if Lin and/or any other family members were with Gandolfini at the time of his death.
Gandolfini appeared in a series of films in the 1990s including Crimson Tide and Get Shorty in 1995. But he got recognized for his role in “A Streetcar Named Desire” opposite Alec Baldwin and Jessica Lange in 1992. Years later, he impressed theatre critics again with his role in Broadway’s God of Carnage. He appeared in the 2009-debuted production opposite Edie Falco.
But Gandolfini is of course best remembered for his role as the mob boss Tony Soprano in “The Sopranos”. Send your love. Gandolfini will be greatly missed.
