LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Black Forest Fire Map 2013, one of the Colorado Springs wildfires today, has spread. The Black Forest Fire Map today June 13, 2013 was enlarged as it, the Royal Gorge Fire, and the Big Meadows Fire advanced. But officials warn news that their biggest concern this morning still remains the Black Forest Fire.
Overnight the Black Forest Fire destroyed or damaged up to sixty homes, officials tell news. Reported last night, the fire was first spotted near Shoup road and Highway 83. The latest Black Forest Fire Map reveals that the blaze is currently north of Briargate, east of the Air Force Academy and north east of Colorado Springs.
At 10:20 pm last night, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office issued new mandatory evacuation orders. They included south of Hodgen, North of Burgess and Ayers roads, West of Eastonville, East of Peregrine Way.
An evacuation shelter has been set up for residents. That is located at Palmer Ridge High School, officials tell news, located on Frontage road. Another shelter is now set up at New Life Church on Voyager Parkway. Large animals have a shelter at Norris Penrose Equestrian Center. They are accepting horses as well. Another animal shelter is open at Elbert County Fairgrounds as well.
A news update on the lack Black Forest Fire Map will be given this morning. But officials are concerned that the number of structures lost may grown. At least eight thousand acres have been burned. As many as 2600 residents were evacuated last night. And yet, officials warned news late last night the fire was still at zero containment.
In a news briefing Tuesday evening, the Colorado Springs Fire Department warned that the fire is moving swiftly. It is being aided by low humidity levels and record high temperatures. The latest fire map is below. For continuing coverage of this and the other Colorado wildfires click HERE.
