ST LOUIS (LALATE) – An Oklahoma City tornado 2013 today is now approaching form the west. An Oklahoma City tornado tonight May 31, 2013 is moving fast – namely “the El Reno, OK tornado” – prompting major alerts for OKC right now. The El Reno OK tornado’s next stop is Yukon, OK, officials tell news.
The Oklahoma City tornado situation is getting very serious just before 7:15 PM EST tonight. The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore tweeted the weather conditions just moments ago. He tells news “very dangerous tornado warned supercell coming towards Oklahoma City metro area!”
The system he is referring to is the El Reno, Oklahoma tornado previously reported on LALATE tonight HERE. The tornado is just rest of El Reno airport as of 7:15 PM EST tonight. KFOR tweeted moments ago that “Tornado near El Reno going on track to hit airport.”
Damage to the El Reno airport could occur tonight. KFOR is reporting “I-40 closed in El Reno. On track to hit El Reno airport. If continues, will take out part of airport.” KFOR is telling news that the system has yet to hit any structures. The station is advising news “El Reno tornado to cross 15th St. & 29th St. Almost mile wide”.
The El Reno tornado when it reaches Oklahoma City could be a mile wide. “Tornado reported a half mile wide on the ground, in Canadian Co, moving east south eastward toward OK City”, reports KFOR.
The projected path for the tornado is still problematic. The Weather Channel tonight is reporting at 6:12p CT tonight that the “supercell west of OKC making right turn taking it ESE toward Union City, Mustang, possibly Moore later if trend continues.” The current location of the system as of 7:30 PM EST tonight is “El Reno & 10th St. North just west of Banner Rd.” For continuing coverage of tornado activity today, click HERE.
