LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Los Angeles earthquake today 2013 has just struck Southern California. The Los Angeles earthquake today May 9, 2013 erupted on land. It was centered near Marina Del Rey, compared to recent quakes striking out in the Pacific Ocean.
Officials tell news that a 3.0 magnitude Los Angeles earthquake today erupted shortly after 2:08 PM PST today. The quake was near Marina Del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica, Inglewood and the Pacific Palisades. USGS indicates to news that today’s Los Angeles earthquake began at a shallow epicenter. Officials tell news that it erupted only eight miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt across the region.
Officials also tell news that the Los Angeles quake was two miles southeast of Marina Del Rey. The quake was two miles north of El Segundo and four miles southwest of Culver City.
LALATE can report that this is the second quake in just days to start at the same epicenter. On April 26, the same epicenter delivered a 3.2 magnitude quake at 7:52 PM PST. That quake was three miles northwest of El Segundo and four miles southwest of Culver City. Officials also told news that quake was four miles west of Inglewood and twelve miles west of downtown.
