A 2.6 magnitude earthquake struck Snyder, Texas this morning. The quake had virtually no depth. USGS indicates to news that the Texas earthquake today started only three miles below ground level. As a result the quaked could be felt across the vicinity of the epicenter.
Officials tell news that the quake started at 8:08 am today local time. The quake was only sixteen miles north of Snyder. The quake also began thirty-nine miles northwest of Sweetwater and sixty-two miles northeast of Big Spring. The quake was also seventy miles west of Abilene, USGS tell news.
On September 11 last year, a 4.4 earthquake struck eleven miles north east of Snyder, Texas, USGS reported to news at the time. The quake was felt in Lubbock, sections of Midland, and areas outside Fort Worth.
In January, a comparable quake began one miles west of Timpson and twenty-four miles northeast of Nacogdoches. The quake was also twenty-six miles southeast of Henderson and forty-one miles southeast of Kilgore, USGS indicated to news.
