Storage Wars Drops 3: Darrell Sheets, Dan and Laura Dotson

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Storage Wars drops 3 cast members this week, with its current cast remaining in doubt. Storage Wars will drop 3 more regulars – Darrell Sheets, and Dan and Laura Dotson – two years after the show broke onto the TV landscape as a ratings hit. But was it a reality show farse as well? That is what one cast member said in a lawsuit.

In September 2011, LALATE reported that the show delivered the most watched episode of any program in A&E history. In statement to news, A&E said at the time “episode of … “Storage Wars” drew record ratings for the network with back-to-back episodes at 10pm and 10:30pm. The 10:30 episode of “Storage Wars” hit a series high of 5.3 million viewers making it the series’ most watched episode and the network’s #1 original series telecast of all time.”

One year later, the great news had gone sour. Cast member David Hester was fired for the show and sued asserting that the show is fake. The lawsuit claimed items used in the show allegedly were planted by producers. Hester claimed that the show would allegedly tell him to plant items for him to “discover”. “Defendants requested that Hester provide valuable items that would be planted by Defendants in the storage lockers acquired by Hester.” He also told news “in Cycle 3, Defendants insisted on using their own locks on the storage lockers portrayed in the Series.”

But a new report by Radar Online today claims that Darrell Sheets, and Dan and Laura Dotson have been released. “They lived up to Darrell’s contract, but then shot more episodes that weren’t covered by his contract and kept him out of those,” a source told Radar. “He was not happy to say the least….It seems as if they are going after some of the higher paid cast members,” the source said. “And meanwhile they are expanding the franchise.”
